Casa Vittoria is an exquisite home, situated in a restored 18th century palazzo (noble palace) right on Cortona’s main street, Via Nazionale, in the town center. The home has been in our friend, Riccardo’s family for several generations, and Riccardo himself has restored his families home with the upmost attention to detail, furnishing it with an eclectic assortment of antique, vintage and modern furnishings, which result in a wonderfully creative and artistic environment. The home has retained much of its original noble elegance and many of its features have remained in tact over the centuries.  Since the house was built for a noble family, the ceilings are very high and the rooms are large. The overall ambiance of Casa Vittoria is luminous, spacious and airy.

The central staircase is also a feature that adds to this spacious and well spread out floor plan.

Casa Vittoria is situated over 4 floors, revolving around an original central interior staircase. There are 3+ bedrooms spread out over the 3 floors (the master bedroom suite has a twin bedded room, making it an ideal room for families, with its own en-suite bathroom.  There are 2 additional double bedrooms, making a total of 4 bedrooms, Casa Vittoria can sleep 8 people very comfortably.

The first floor has the master suite with adjoining twin bedroom and en-suite bath and across the hall is another double bedroom.

The second floor has a fantastic kitchen with a professional industrial stove and is decorated beautifully. There is an original stone fireplace here as well. The kitchen has double door windows which look out over the spectacular Valley di Chiana below. Adjoining the kitchen is the tasteful and comfortable living room, which has also an informal dining area. The living room has large bay window which looks out over the valley.  Across the central hallway is the formal dining room, with windows that look out over Via Nazionale below.  You can simply look out this window and observe the activity of village life below.

The third floor is the restored attic floor and is charming, it has the last and 4th bedroom.  This room has 2 twin beds, which can be adjoined to make a kingsize bed if desired.  Across the hall is a wonderful modern, full bathroom with bathtub.

The are an additional 2 bathrooms off the central staircase on various floors, one is a full bath with small shower, the other a half bath. There are a total of 4 bathrooms in Casa VIttoria.

Lastly, you arrive at the outdoor terrace, a magnificent treat and rare in Cortona. This terrace looks out over the Val di Chiana, Lake Trasimeno and the rooftops of Cortona, one of the more stunning views we have ever witnessed.  Imagine drinking your morning coffee or a glass of Tuscan wine at sunset, taking in this view, it is nothing short of extraordinary!

Detailed Description

This elegant palace is situated on the main street in the historic centre of Cortona.

It has been restored with care and elegance conserving the original noble features that have been in the palace since the 70’s. The palace is subdivided into 3 levels with a beautiful original central staircase. On the top floor there are views from the terrace which are wonderful panoramas of the Valdichiana. On the first floor (ideal for families) there is an interconnecting single bedroom with a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom with shower. On the second floor there is a wonderful kitchen with an original fireplace, it is designed in an antique style combined with modern equipment. The living room has wonderful bay windows and wood flooring. It has antique furniture which belongs to the family. In front of the kitchen and living room there is a lovely dining room. On the third floor is the guest attic with a double bedroom, a bathroom with bath and a wonderful panoramic terrace which is furnished with a table and chairs. From here you can admire the magnificent sunsets over the roofs of Cortona. As you go up the stairs, the mezzanine floors have original maintained bathrooms with basin and toilet.

The Palace is the ideal place for staying in a noble Italian palace. On the main street there are cafés, ‘trattorie’, boutiques with handmade products, bread shops, greengrocers and a butcher’s shop. The car park is 100m away from the palace. For those wishing to stay in Cortona without a car, arrangements can be made for the taxi, bus and train services. In the centre of Cortona there is a small supermarket, greengrocers, butchers, bread and hardware shops. The Terontola train station can be reached by bus, from which the following centres can be easily arrived at : Florence in 1h20mins, Rome 1h40mins, Perugia 50mins, Orvieto 50mins, Assisi 1h20mins, Arezzo 30mins
