Il Pozzo is a lovely 2 bedroom apartment situated right in the center of Cortona. It is flanked by two streets, the windows look out over Via Nazionale, the main shopping street in Cortona and the entrance is one street up, a quiet little courtyard. Upon entering Il Pozzo, you step down into the living, dining and kitchen area, all restored with exquisite attention to decor and details. The kitchen windows look out over Via Nazionale, and you can observe the comings and goings of the passerbys. There is a central hallway where the 2 bedrooms and full bathroom feed off of. There is a larger master bedroom which sleeps two, and in the next spacious bedroom there is a single bed, which will sleep one person, the total number of people that Il Pozzo accomodates is 3 people.
This jewelbox has been lovingly restored by the owner, Ivan Botanici. He has left and preserved all the centuries old architectual details, the curved brickwork, built in cabinetry and other details that date back hundreds of years. Ivan is our dear friend and also owns the premeir Il Pozzo Gallery, directly across the street from this apartment. There are elements of his design acumen and attention to detail throughout the apartment. He is mentioned in our Insider Tips Guide as a must visit gallery and also a person whom you must meet, he is an incredibly generous and gracious person and will insure that your stay is most memorable.
