April Brown

April was born in Wenatchee, Washington and attended the University of Tennesee and Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee. She began working as a child picking fruit, pulling weeds and cleaning houses. Over the next 25 years she worked 27 odd, exciting and enriching jobs. As a police officer in Nashville, Tennesse, a talent scout in Los Angeles, California for Larry Flynt Publications and a Press Agent for Bullet Publicity in Seattle, Washington. In 1992 she attended Missouri Auction School in Kansas City to learn the auction chant and never looked back.

For 16 years she has immersed herself in the auction concept in search of bigger and better ways to enhance this fundraising model. Her innovative strategies can be heard on compact disc as the author of "Money is Marvelous" and “The Foundation – The Secrets to Conducting a Successful Charity Auction”. Brown consults with nonprofit organizations on how to raise more money at auction and assists businesses in placing products and services as an advertising opportunity at fundraising events - she calls this Global Gladvertising. Her methods inspire volunteer participation, increase revenue, and create profitable alliances for both businesses and charities.

April Brown is the founding director of Whisker City, a feline rescue organization located in Shoreline, Washington. She is married to Mike Brown a sports broadcaster for over 20 years at 710 KIRO Newsradio. Together they serve the needs of homeless people and pets through their family foundation "Blue Sky Charities". They make their home in Shoreline with their dog Chatter and cats Millie and Charlotte.
