April,

Thank you so much for helping make the event so successful. The  news has all be positive and pleasant and, of course, it helps when the numbers are good as they were this year.

...Again, thanks much and I hope things are going well there in auctionland!

-Becky Bruhn An Evening of Wine PNDRI

Thank you both and your team as well for a very successful auction evening!

I cannot quote any numbers just yet, but from where we stand it looks like we have well-exceeded last year's numbers.  Yay!  Everyone I have spoken with had a wonderful time last night and enjoyed a great party.  April, you were a whiz at finding extra money hanging out in people's wallets (and you too, Pat).  Everyone around here is quite thrilled with the outcome and, speaking on behalf of the auction chairs and myself, we really enjoyed working with you and building that relationship.  Charity Auction World is a top rate business!

Thank you again for helping us turn out a super successful auction.  It was a pleasure.

-Cheri, Saint Bridget Parish

Hi April,

I just wanted to tell you how fun it was to work with you.  I'm still talking about our fun Rockin' Rodeo night! You did a fabulous job with our auction and energizing our crowd. I really think we met the goal of tapping every buck in the room!  I hope you had a nice time and hoping you thought it was successful as well.

“We had the pleasure of working with April Brown here at St. Monica Parish School for our 2009 Auction.  April was with us all the way from the initial planning meetings, procurement ideas and introducing fun new games to increase our revenue Gala Night.  We loved the wine ring toss game, one bid board and dessert dash.  April Brown even videotaped our gala and posted a fun video for everyone to see and re-live the great evening.  I would recommend April and Mike Brown for your upcoming auction.”

- Jamie North, St. Monica Parish Events & School Auction

Letter to West Seattle Herald

Something pretty extraordinary happened (Saturday night) at the Holy Rosary School auction – I know, because I was the emcee – and I thought it would be cool to get the word out.

First of all, the level of bidding by the parents and supporters was more than I have ever seen in the 25+ years I have been involved in Holy Rosary auctions. Mundane items like free parking in front of the church for Mass, or class art projects, or the chance to climb the bell tower with the pastor went in the $2000 range consistently. (There were 65 items, so this really added up).

But at the end of the evening, when you’d think most people were tapped out, they showed a video and had the principal of neighboring Holy Family School in White Center get up and talk a little about their fight to stay open while so many of their kids come from impoverished families, and their urgent need for new textbooks for the school.

Then the auctioneer asked people for donations. They raised $20,000 for the neighboring parish! The auction chairwoman was in tears afterward. Makes you proud.
